At Summit plc we have unique know-how in rapidly and accurately assessing the water-soluble fractions of foods, herbs and other plant sources. This capability is used to identify the components of complex mixtures for QA or regulatory purposes, as well as to identify novel components and those with therapeutic activity. Summit phytochemistry is led by Professor Robert Nash who has over 20 years experience in the field of natural products, particularly polar compounds.

In addition, Summit has demonstrated expertise in the further isolation and characterisation of novel components, with one compound entering preclinical assessment and several other compounds in discovery.

Our phytochemistry isolation and chemistry expertise also contributes compounds to both our catalogue and compound libraries; the Natural Product and proprietary Iminosugar libraries.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include:

• HPLC/ELS/PDA/prep.
• Dionex carbohydrate HPLC
• Biotage multi flash
• Automated Flashmaster and by Cation and anion exchange
• 500 MHz Bruker NMR (with ACD prediction software)
• Synthetic chemistry and drug discovery expertise
